History/Ethnography/Schools
I am a historian and ethnographer of justice struggles and public education. I have a PhD in American Studies and African American Studies from Yale University. My book, Students of the Dream: Resegregation in a Southern City, is available through Harvard University Press. In my capacity as the Service Learning and Partnerships Specialist at Georgia Tech's Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain, I engage my background in equity and community-based movements to facilitate transformative teaching, learning, and long-term projects across Georgia Tech and beyond it. For further information about Serve-Learn-Sustain, and about the Greater Atlanta Regional Center of Expertise (RCE)-- a United Nations affiliated network dedicated to catalyzing people and institutions to realize the Sustainable Development Goals, please take a look here and here. And of course, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions about my research in metro Atlanta or my role at Georgia Tech.
